AI song contest teams up with Musical AI — here’s what this game-changing partnership means for 2025

The AI Song Contest partners with Musical AI to revolutionize music creation, focusing on ethical practices and fair compensation for human creators in 2025.
The AI Song Contest is back for 2025, and this year, it’s bringing a major new partner to the table: Musical AI, alongside RipX DAW as a junior partner. Together, they aim to push the boundaries of human-AI collaboration in music while ensuring ethical and transparent practices.

What’s the AI Song Contest?
For those new to it, the AI Song Contest is an international competition where musicians, AI experts, and creatives team up to write songs using AI as a creative partner rather than replacement. Think of it like Eurovision, but with algorithms helping craft the music. The contest has been running since 2020, with past winners including Uncanny Valley (2020), M.O.G.I.I.7.E.D. (2021), and Onda Corta (2024). The 2025 edition will wrap up with an Award Show on November 16 at Amsterdam’s Melkweg, a legendary venue for music innovation.

Why The AI Song Contest x Musical AI partnership matters
The collaboration between the AI Song Contest and Musical AI isn’t just about making cool music — it’s about doing it responsibly. Both organizations prioritize fairness, transparency, and ethical AI use in music creation.

Transparency in AI Use: Contest rules require teams to document how AI was used, ensuring no one hides behind vague claims of AI assistance. There’s even a flagging system to track which AI tools were used, keeping submissions honest.
Fair Licensing & Attribution: Musical AI specializes in ethical licensing solutions for AI-generated music. Their platform ensures proper credit and compensation for human creators—an increasingly important issue as AI tools become more common.
What’s New for 2025?
AI Song Sessions Return: Hands-on workshops will take place worldwide, giving artists a chance to experiment with AI music generators while discussing their ethical implications.
Creative Rights Collective: Building on last year’s success, this initiative connects artists, developers, and legal experts to tackle issues like rights, monetization, and responsible AI practices.
Global Jury of Experts: Over 20 judges from music, AI, and ethics backgrounds will evaluate entries, ensuring a well-rounded, fair competition.
How to Get Involved
If you’re an artist, developer, or just AI-curious, you can:

Join an AI Song Session (dates to be announced).
Form a team and submit a song when entries open (July–August 2025).
Partner with the contest — brands and institutions can reach out at brandpartnerships@aisongcontest.com.
AI is changing music, but not without challenges. Who owns AI-generated songs? How do we credit human creators fairly? This partnership is a step toward answering those questions while keeping creativity at the center.

As the AI Song Contest and Musical AI team up for 2025, one thing’s clear: the future of music isn’t just human or AI — it’s both, working together the right way.
